New Deal Secretariat - Federal Gas Tax Program

The Federal Gas Tax Program provides approximately $372.4 million to Saskatchewan municipalities over five years (2005-06 to 2013-14) to help build municipalities in Saskatchewan.  Funding is allocated to municipalities on a per capita basis for environmentally sustainable municipal infrastructure projects and for projects that increase the capacities of communities in areas such as long term planning.  These federal funds support the environmental outcomes of cleaner air, cleaner water and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.  The New Deal Secretariat was established by the province to administer the gas tax program on behalf of the federal government.
