Programs & Services Municipal ForumThe Municipal Forum was created in 2004 as a venue for consultation and collaboration between the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM), the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) and the Minister of Municipal Affairs. The Municipal Forum evolved out of and replaced the Municipal-Provincial Roundtable meeting process that began in 1993. The Municipal Forum is formally acknowledged between the parties in a Letter of Understanding (see below).

Objectives The Municipal Forum partnership is premised on a results-based approach through which government and the urban and rural municipal sectors will collaboratively address and co-ordinate key municipal issues. The partners are committed to using the Municipal Forum to discuss and, when appropriate, come to a joint decision on issues in order to meet both the government’s and the municipal associations’ objectives and relevant processes and timeframes. While the partners do not have an expectation that a complete consensus can be reached on each and every issue that might come before the Municipal Forum, they recognize that by enabling a frank and open discussion, the Municipal Forum will help all the partners to better understand one another. Municipal Forum agendas are developed collaboratively between the partners to the Forum. If you have any questions about the Municipal Forum, please feel free to contact:
